Otherwise known as regional enteritis, it is an inflammatory bowel disease that is a chronic condition that may recur at various times over a lifetime. It usually involves the small intestine, most often the lower part called the ileum.

Bleeding from the rectum, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, weight loss, joint pain, skin problems and fever may also occur. Complications include blockage of the intestine and nutritional deficiencies. Symptoms of hypercorticism may include an increase in the size of the face and neck, acne and bruising. Children with the disease may have growth problems.

Researchers don't know what causes Crohn’s disease, but a number of theories are being studied. These include heredity, environment and immune response.

Immunomodulatory drugs such as azathioprine (Imuran, Azasan), 6-mercaptopurine (Purinethol), or methotrexate are often effective in maintaining remission of Crohn's disease. These medications are used long-term and require monitoring to prevent adverse effects. They work by blocking the immune reaction that contributes to inflammation. However these drugs may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea and may lower a person’s resistance to infection.

Crohn’s disease is a disease that can be checked through proper diet intake. Relief is brought to many sufferers of the disease if they avoid yeast, wheat and milk. The consumption of milk from the diet must be compensated by having sufficient amount of calcium from other sources. You may also want to eliminate spicy and acidic foods that create discomfort for the gastrointestinal system.

Almost all seafood and fish are good source to have adequate calcium and this food also has essential omega-3 fatty acids.

Crohn’s disease symptoms can be greatly improved using a combination of Omega-3 fatty acids and Quercitrin.Oily fish and fish oil supplements are needed to redress the omega-3 to omega-6 balance, as a high imbalance can be a trigger factor.

Italian researchers recently found that fish oils reduce the frequency of intestinal attacks in people and are highly beneficial for crohns disease treatment.

The same research showed that among patients in remission who still had signs of inflammation, only 28% of those taking eternic coated fish oil capsules relapsed.

One of the greatest challenges in managing Crohn’s disease is to maintain remission.

Recently, an enteric-coated preparation of fish oil has been shown to be effective in reducing the rate of relapse in patients with Crohn’s disease in remission who are at high risk of relapse.

Because of minimal side effects, fish oil appears to be an ideal maintenance agent in Crohn’s disease. However, until results from studies that compare the therapeutic effect of fish oil to the currently available maintenance agents are available, fish oil supplementation cannot be recommended as a sole maintenance agent at present.

It does, however, seem prudent to promote a diet rich in quality unpolluted fish oil in patients with Crohn’s disease.

An alternative Crohn’s Disease treatment involves:

A combination of omega-3 fatty acids and the flavonoid quercitrin to reduce inflammation in the large intestine associated with Cohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Omega-3
fatty acids have previously been linked to a reduction in markers of inflammation, particularly in relation to cardiovascular disease.

For gut health however some studies have reported that omega-3 supplementation may not be so beneficial since this can impair the colonic antioxidant system.

This could be remedied, say the researchers behind the new study, by including an antioxidant compound, such as the flavonoid guercitrin along with the omega-3s.

Quercitin is the strongest of natures anti-inflammatories, has anti-viral properties, aids respiratory and sinus problems and relieves prostatitis symptoms

Add quercitin supplements with your quality Omega-3 supplements and you will greatly help your battle for a natural healing of Crohn`s Disease.
